About

A Little About Me

I have always had a passion for photography, music, video, and artistic expression. Combining together a Television Broadcasting and Video Production Diploma with an Interactive Multimedia Post-Graduate Certificate, I have found a way to combine my education with my passions.

After graduating in 2006, I began my career in Sudbury, Ontario working with Eastlink (formerly Persona Communications), as a videographer, covering local media events, various levels of sports, and even the municipal election. Working as a camera operator, video editor, producer, and the occasional interviewer, I found a great bridge from the world of educational studies to the working world.

Looking to do more multimedia work, I left the broadcasting industry to pursue freelance multimedia aspirations. I am currently working as a multimedia developer for Bow Valley College’s Curriculum Services Unit in Calgary, Alberta. Developing online courses for the BlackBoard and e-Campus platforms, I have expanded my knowledge of the web/multimedia world, while still maintaining and utilizing the effective video industry training obtained while working at the digital broadcast station.

With Bow Valley College, I have had the opportunity to develop websites, create graphics for the web and for video, film, edit, and produce videos, and create interactive DVD menus and activities which help students and faculty learn. Since moving to Calgary in 2008, I have had the opportunity to work with many independent bands in the Calgary area, and many touring major label bands from all over North America. Providing everything from venue contacts and business advice to web development, photography, video production, and various types of design work, I have become an all around multimedia specialist for up and coming musical acts.

What Others Are Saying

“We are very fortunate to have met someone as committed and talented as Damien Mustaphi. He is always working around the clock to promote indie bands and artists to get exposure and not only not just in our city, throughout Canada as well. With his website, indie403.com, Damien can post up his amazing moments captured by his great photography and multimedia.

Speaking as a member of a working class Rock & Roll band, I can say that any given hand is a helping one, but Damien exceeds these expectations by not only taking awesome pictures/video, but by also helping us get great gigs at great venues even outside our city limits. He continues to lend us his insight on the business side of music, and always shares his artistic visions on our project, which only inspires and pushes us forward.

All in all Damien’s work is a positive motion that we appreciate and love to be a part of. Among all of the bands from all genres of the spectrum he has worked with, they will say the exact same thing. We are looking forward to seeing what future genius he will bring to the Canadian music scene.”

“Damien did our family photos after the birth of our first little guy. He is a very gifted photographer who keeps his clients relaxed & comfortable. We were so pleased with the natural atmosphere and the subtle direction we receieved regarding poses.

The finished photos were; at no surprise to us, fantastic! and are still very much enjoyed with our family & friends. We are eager to book our next shoot and many more thereafter.

Thanks for the memories :)

As the singer/guitarist of an up and coming indie band, one of the most helpful, beneficial people to know is Damien Mustaphi. Through his website, indie403.com, Damien tirelessly helps bands with photography, promoting, and booking shows, as well as doing web design and using his abilities to create many excellent multimedia projects.

For my band, Million Dollar Fix, Damien has captured many live performances, taking hundreds of extremely high quality pictures, at a multitude of different venues. Damien has also done quite a bit of design work for us, creating logos and stickers, and has lined up a number of our shows.

The work Damien does hugely benefits the indie music scene throughout Canada. Bands of different genres have had tours booked, videos filmed and edited, websites designed and created, and many merchandise items produced by him. His work is always extremely appreciated, and can be the catalyst for young bands to grow and flourish. We have always enjoyed working with him and are looking forward to more projects with him in the future.

~Logan Derby of Million Dollar Fix

“Damien has been working closely with us for over 2 years and plays a crucial role in the bands presentation to the public. Through his efforts in video production, web design and management, and an uncanny ability to bring still shots to life, we have grown our fan base and presence substantially.

When an idea is brought forth, we can always count on his knowledge and experience to streamline the process as well as giving it true originality. Aside from his hard work and helpful input, Damien has a positive attitude and strong sense of pride for anything he puts his name on and is a valuable asset to whomever has the pleasure of working with him.”
